About the event

A butch trainwreck that works in the cereal aisle. A Christian university student with a dead mother and an engagement ring. An expectant audience. So, Nancy and Lucy must confess everything, starting where it began: sharpening pencils aged 7.

Lavender is the thirteen-year journey of two women: how Nancy tortured flies for fun, how Lucy plaited her hair, how Nancy drank before school to feel sane, how Lucy was bulimic to feel perfect, how they kissed, and how Lucy ran. They meet at a party, 20, desperately performing as their fourth wall fractures.

This is a vibrant, outrageous, and truthful sapphic which scrutinises the impact of Christian iconography and culture on female sexuality, gender expression and autonomy. A timely exploration of how performance functions as a means of survival in hetero society.
